Synopsis: An actor plays the helmsman of a fishing boat. His story embodies in one character the events experienced by 42 fishermen interviewed throughout 3 years of field research. Through conflicts and turning points, the staging converses with strictly documentary sequences filmed aboard the fishing boats all over Italy, from Chioggia to Mazara. The fishing work is portrayed in its complexity, between decadence and hopes. “L’intervista in mare” is a hybrid film, straddling between observational documentary and theatrical piece. It delves into an endangered sector, which is asking for a necessary future for the survival of an inestimable collective heritage.

Ludovico Ferro (1971), Ph.D. in sociology, teaches Cultural and Communication Processes at the University of Padua. Author of over 30 publications, more than half are books. He has been studying film and film festivals from a sociological perspective since 2002. He designed and has been the director (since 2020) of the collateral award of Venice International Film Festival “Persona, Lavoro, Ambiente”.  Since 2019, he has been experimenting the use of artistic languages (cinema and theater) to disseminate the results of his research. He is author and production manager of the play Il delegato (2019).  In the cinematographic field, he is both producer and author (writing and directing).  He is production manager for Centootto (medium-length documentary, Italy 2021), and for Epos et Labor (documentary feature, 2023) L’intervista in mare (documentary feature, 2023), for which he is also screenwriter, composer and producer, is his directorial debut. --- VERSIONE ITALIANA Ludovico Ferro (1971), Ph.D. in sociologia, insegna Processi Culturali e Comunicativi all’Università di Padova.  Autore di oltre 30 pubblicazioni, di cui più della metà monografie. Dal 2002 Studia il cinema e i festival cinematografici da una prospettiva sociologica.  Ha ideato e dirige (dal 2020 ad oggi) il premio collaterale della Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia “Persona, Lavoro, Ambiente”.  Dal 2019 sperimenta l’utilizzo di linguaggi artistici (cinema e teatro) per divulgare i risultati delle proprie ricerche. È autore del soggetto e responsabile di produzione dello spettacolo teatrale Il delegato (2019).  In ambito cinematografico lavora sia sul versante produttivo che autoriale (scrittura e regia).  È stato direttore di produzione di Centootto (mediometraggio documentario, Italia 2021), direttore esecutivo e direttore di produzione di Epos et Labor (lungometraggio documentario, 2023)  L’intervista in mare (lungometraggio documentario, 2023), per il quale ha curato anche scrittura, musiche e produzione, è il suo esordio alla regia.
